Since 1994, we have led the effort to save and restore Butte’s buildings. We have been at the forefront of nearly every major public preservation effort.

whatever it takes

From hands-on volunteer days to educational workshops, influencing public policy or providing financial assistance, Butte CPR is committed to carrying Butte’s historic architecture into the future.

Our Mission

Butte CPR is a grassroots organization dedicated to revitalizing Butte by preserving and protecting the town’s historic cultural and architectural landscape. We do this through grantmaking, education, and advocacy.

  • Promote public awareness of the value of historic architecture.

  • Encourage economic revitalization through historic preservation.

  • Provide public education regarding Butte's historic architecture.

  • Stop the demolition of architecturally significant buildings.

  • Mothball abandoned buildings, securing and stabilizing them for future use.

  • Promote historic preservation through public policy.

  • Provide financial aid in preservation, restoration, and revitalization of historic structures.

  • Help prevent theft of historical elements.

  • Salvage architectural features for reuse.

  • Recognize individuals and groups for outstanding renovation and maintenance of historic structures.

Through their positive, hands-on participation in the civic life of Butte, [Butte CPR is] creating a greater understanding that Butte’s historic architecture is what makes Butte what it is. And that is something worth fighting for!
