STAINED GLASS TOUR 2007
2008 info coming soon!

Butte CPR is organizing its fourth tour of stained glass windows on Sunday April 22, 2007. Butte is blessed with an amazing array of stained and leaded glass windows. This year the tour will focus on historic places of worship, which hold some of the most spectacular examples of stained glass that Butte, once one of the wealthiest cities in the nation, could muster. The tour will take place on Sunday afternoon, April 22, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

This year's tour includes six locations visited in 2006 — but this year's format will be different. Guided walking tours will begin at the Leonard Hotel, 215 W. Granite St., every hour on the hour at 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00 p.m. DO NOT GO TO THE INDIVIDUAL CHURCHES.

CPR's WALKING TOUR GUIDES:
Julie Crowley, historian and tour guide
Irene Scheidecker, historian and co-author of Stained Glass Booklet
Nicole von Gaza, historian, tour guide
Dick Gibson, Old Butte Hist. Adv., and co-author of Stained Glass Booklet

The tour is FREE, and an informative 56-page full-color booklet published by the CPR is available for purchase for $5.00 ($7.00 mailed; click here for ordering information). Publication of the booklet was supported in part by grants from the Montana Cultural Trust and Butte's Urban Revitalization Agency, assistance that is greatly appreciated. The guided walking tour begins at the Leonard Hotel, 215 W. Granite St., and lasts about 1½ hours. • Free trolley rides will be provided from the last church, St. Mark's, back to the Leonard. The Trolley is courtesy of donations by Uptown Butte Glass Works (Nicole von Gaza) and Andrea Stierle, and the Chamber of Commerce. Thanks!

Co-authors of the Stained Glass book, Dick Gibson and Irene Scheidecker, will be giving a presentation, Through a Glass Brightly: Vignettes of Butte History through Stained Glass, at the Montana Historical Society in Helena on May 17, 2007, at 6:30 p.m.

TOUR STARTS AT LEONARD HOTEL:
