STAINED GLASS TOUR 2006 Butte CPR is organizing its third tour of stained glass windows on April 23, 2006. Butte is blessed with an amazing array of stained and leaded glass windows. This year the tour will focus on historic places of worship, which hold some of the most spectacular examples of stained glass that Butte, once one of the wealthiest cities in the nation, could muster. You'll see glass manufactured by artisans from Chicago, Minneapolis, San Francisco, New York, and Butte. Because most of the glass is best viewed from the inside, this tour will take place on Sunday afternoon, April 23, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. The following places of worship will be open, with volunteer guides provided by the Butte CPR. The tour is FREE, and an informative 56-page full-color booklet published by the CPR is available for purchase for $5.00 ($7.00 mailed; click here for ordering information). Publication of the booklet was supported in part by grants from the Montana Cultural Trust and Butte's Urban Revitalization Agency, assistance that is greatly appreciated. The tour can be started at any of the sites listed.
Butte CPR is seeking volunteers to help with this program promoting and celebrating stewardship of Butte's incredible architectural heritage. Contact Toni Seccomb (E-mail) or come to a CPR meeting to volunteer. |
