O'Rourke Pictures

Back to main O'Rourke Page

The O'Rourke and its neighbors down the hill, the Historic Butte Jail (now offices for the Police Department) and the Silver Bow Center, make up a stately block and a half in Uptown Butte. The entries are trimmed with marble and oak. The brick coursing in the O'Rourke was used in the later construction of the Historic Butte Jail, to the south across Quartz St.

This impressive corner structure has a stately presence when viewed from the southeast. The coursed lower bricks and granite foundation blocks form the exterior of the ground floor.

View from the southwest.
Flat building roofs in Butte need to be maintained and the lack of maintenance has caused some damage to the bricks on the NW corners of both buildings. Water has been allowed to run down the corner of the back building, causing some damage to the brick and mortar (far left). Repairs to the roof in 2003 have kept water from entering the structure.

Good Basement apartment: A number of the rooms have escaped damage done by water and intruders. Many appliances are still intact, as are built-in cabinets.
