 Demolition CounterIt's often said that the preservation community demands that every single building be saved. On the contrary: the Historic Preservation Commission approves many, many demolitions for every one that it argues about. Below is the count of demolitions recorded in Butte since March of 2007, when the current Historic Preservation Ordinance went into effect. This is a work in progress and does not include all demolitions, but it does count demolitions for which the HPC had no input, or when demolition occurred despite a HPC ruling. "Demolitions Denied" includes only denied requests that are still standing.
