2005 DUST to DAZZLE TourFor 2006 tour info, click hereButte Citizens for Preservation and Revitalization Inc. (Butte CPR) is presenting this year's Dust to Dazzle Renovation Home Tour on Saturday, July 9, 2005. Designed to showcase recent and on-going residential renovation projects in Butte's historic district, it will provide an opportunity to view six homes in varying stages of renovation. Homes on the tour will include several cottages, a remodeled apartment, and a three-story apartment building converted to a single family residence. Their addresses are: 627 W. Quartz, 824 W. Quartz, 724 W. Granite, 314 W. Broadway (basement), 827 W. Mercury , and 315 S. Washington. Map in PDF format (430 K) Owners will be on-hand at each home to speak with tour attendees. They will explain the renovation process, problems encountered, and their motivation for building purchase and repair. A short history of each building and its National Register significance will be available as well. The tour is sponsored in part by area vendors whose products and services have been used in these projects. These vendors will be set up in the tour homes, so they can explain their products and services. They will also be able to answer questions and discuss costs. In addition Montana Tech's Historic Preservation Technology Program will be represented. That program offers several excellent classes in hands-on construction technologies. The Butte-Silver Bow Community Enhancement Committee is co-sponsoring the tour event. A representative of the Land Sales Committee will be on-hand to explain the process for buying BSB surplus property, and the Health Department will make available written materials offering information on the lead abatement program. Tickets are $10.00 each, or two for $15.00. Proceeds will benefit Butte CPR's many projects, most notably its Building Improvement Fund. While the funds raised will be a welcome assist, the principal reasons for the tour are to inspire people to purchase and restore historic buildings in Uptown Butte, to show what great results can be achieved while bringing an historic building back from the brink, and to meet the varied and wonderful people who enjoy doing it! Hopefully, tour attendees and volunteers will find a new neighbor! Advance tickets are available at Montana Restorations (19 W. Broadway) and Cavanaugh's County Celtic (131 W. Park). Tickets may be purchased at the homes on tour day, or July 7-9, 2005 at the Montana International Art and Antique Fair in Uptown Butte.
