Instructors: Bob Williams and Craig Struble from Grand Teton National Park. Bob is the staff woodcrafter/training leader at the National Park Service's Historic Preservation Training Center, and has repaired and replaced windows and doors in Philadelphia's Independence Hall and in the White House. Craig was once the woodcrafter for the White House and is now Manager of the National Park Service Western Center for Historic Preservation.

ARCHIVES SALVAGE WORK PARTY - TUESDAY SEPT. 16, 4:00 PM. PLEASE HELP!!

The second Brick Workshop for 2008 is scheduled for Thursday Sept 18 (6-9PM) and Saturday Sept 20 (9AM-noon or later) at the Dumas - 45 E. Mercury. The workshop includes both days, and new material will be presented on each day, but you are welcome to attend only Thursday or only Saturday.

The Thursday evening session will introduce the fundamentals of historic brick maintenance and repair, and resource materials will be distributed. The Saturday morning session will be a hands-on time to do repair to a portion of the building. As the area to be repaired is on the inside, and will eventually be covered, it is a perfect opportunity to get some experience laying common brick and repointing nearby brick. At the same time, we hope to get an area stabilized before the upcoming winter!

The cost of the workshop is $10 for members or $35 for non-members (which includes a 2008 membership). For those that can stay for the entire work session on Saturday morning, we can refund your workshop fee, if you wish. Bring clothes appropriate for outside weather, as the building is not heated.
